Beauty

I was praying.
Now, usually when I pray in my room, I have the tendency to try and alter the atmosphere to make everything feel more "spiritual".  This time, however, my roommate was listening to the sound track to Les Miserables and so, not wanting to interrupt him, I left it playing.  There was a song that was playing, I Dreamed a Dream, that caught my ear while in prayer and it was beautiful.  Absolutely beautiful.  In fact, I almost got tear in my eyes because I was so moved.  But there was something else that I started to feel as well; guilt.  Why should I find this beautiful while praying.  Some song, which has nothing do with the Glory of God, is nothing when compared to Christ.  It got me thinking though.  What if God has blessed us with beauty even in the natural world and secular world just because He loves us?  What a gift this would be!  God has no need placed upon Him to give us such blessing, but He does.  Why does he choose to make breathtaking rock formations deep in the depths of caves where it takes people from the dawn of creation until now to witness?  Why does he place such beauty at the bottom of the ocean that we still may have no idea of yet?  We must thank God for beauty.
